Baldwin City business owners – the City was recently awarded a CDBG-CVR Covid Resiliency grant from the Kansas Department of Commerce. The funds can be used by local businesses for business improvements that directly impact the resiliency of the business to a pandemic-like event or public emergency.

After a regional search, we are thrilled to welcome Lisa LaFountain as the new Library Director for the Baldwin City Public Library. She will be leading the library’s mission to inspire, educate, and empower our community through the magic of books and knowledge.

“We wanted two things,” says Dana Mullis, “One, to bring a cute retail space to Baldwin, where people can buy a one-of-a-kind something made with love; and two, to include all types of art and artists.”

Betty Hagerman, perhaps the Quilting queen of Baldwin City, the official Quilt Capitol of Kansas, was a resident of Vinland, an avid quilter, occasional newspaper columnist for The Baldwin Ledger and author of The Meeting of the Sunbonnet Children.
